Source: The Oregonian, Portland, Ore.迷你倉庫Aug. 14--On Tuesday The New York Times broke the news that some insurers will be given an extra year to comply with new federal health coverage rules that limit people's spending on medical bills. In Oregon officials aren't sure whether anyone will be affected by the newly disclosed exception to the federal rules for 2014. So far, they say they've determined the change won't affect small businesses and individuals who buy their own coverage -- about 350,000 people out of the 1.1 million the state regulates. They are still looking into whether coverage for some larger employer's coverage will be affected. The news goes to the Affordable Care Act's effort to beef up coverage. As the Times put it, "The limit on out-of-pocket costs, including deductibles and co-payments, was not supposed to exceed $6,350 for an individual and $12,700 for a family."However, the new federal rules allow a one-year delay for certain insurers: those th儲存t use different companies to offer different benefits and have computer systems that can't yet track overall spending for members.Cheryl Martinis of the Oregon Insurance Division said, "we did not approve any individual or small group plans with out-of-pocket maximums greater than $6,350. So, this will not affect those plans ... We're still analyzing what this might mean for large groups."In insurance terms, small group coverage is for businesses of less than 50 employees. Large group is the term for businesses that employ 50 or more workers. So it's unclear whether any insurers for larger businesses will use the loophole, but we'll keep you posted as we know more.Have you heard of any employer-based coverage in Oregon that won't meet the caps on out-of-pocket? If so, please drop me a line.-- Nick BudnickCopyright: ___ (c)2013 The Oregonian (Portland, Ore.) Visit The Oregonian (Portland, Ore.) at .oregonian.com Distributed by MCT Information Services新蒲崗迷你倉
