Source: Star-News, Wilmington, N.迷你倉C.Aug. 12--WILMINGTON -- Forbes has ranked Wilmington No. 67 among 200 cities for best places for business and careers.The financial magazine used several benchmarks to make its choices, including past and projected job growth, costs of business and living, income growth over the past five years, educational attainment and projected economic growth through next year.Forbes also factored in net-migration patterns, cultural and recreational opportunities, and the number of highly ranked colleges.Topping the list was Des Moines, Iowa, but Raleigh ranked No. 3 behind Provo, Utah.North Carolina, in fact, was well represented in the top 100: Durham, No. 10; Charlotte, 19th; Asheville, 29th; Winston-Salem, 70th; and Greensboro, 71st.-- Wayne FaulknerTourist spending jumped in 2012Raleigh -- Tourists spent nearly $460 million in New Hanover County in 2012, an 8 percent increase over the year before. The tourism spending helped 文件倉ustain more than 5,300 jobs in the county and generated nearly $40 million in state and local tax revenue.The visitor spending figures come from an annual study commissioned by the N.C. Division of Tourism and conducted by the U.S. Travel Association. The study uses sales and tax revenue data plus employment figures to determine the overall impact of visitor spending in North Carolina.According to the study, all of the state's 100 counties saw increases in visitor spending in 2012.In Brunswick, tourists spent nearly $446 million -- a nearly 7 percent increase over the year before.The figure was $80.6 million in Pender County.The state's top tourist-spending county was Mecklenburg County, at $4.4 billion.
